Free standing wood stove and pellet stove installation, with the venting done right

Free standing wood stoves and pellet stoves installed and vented, including stoves you bought elsewhere.

Where a stove install goes wrong

A stove is only as safe as the chimney or vent it is connected to. A new stove on an old flue that was never checked for it, pipe that runs through the wrong place, or a connection that leaks smoke into the room are the ways an install turns into a problem.

Changing fuel or adding an appliance changes the demands on the whole system. A flue that served a fireplace for decades may not suit a wood stove, and a pellet stove vents differently from either. That is why the install and the chimney are one job, not two.

How we install and vent a stove

We start with the chimney. Adding a new appliance or a different fuel calls for a Level II inspection under NFPA 211, so we look at the flue, the liner and the route the pipe will take before anything is set in place. If the existing flue is not right for the stove, we say so and talk through the fix, which is often a stainless liner.

Then the stove goes in and gets connected. Where the venting has to climb the outside of the house, we use insulated stainless chimney pipe run up the siding to clear the roofline, so the exhaust leaves the building at the right height.

We install free standing wood stoves and pellet stoves, including a stove you bought online and had delivered to your door. You do not have to buy the stove from us to have us put it in.

After the stove is in

A stove that burns all winter needs the same attention as any other chimney. Plan on a cleaning and inspection every year before the heating season, which is the sweeping we do for fireplaces and furnace flues too. Creosote builds with every wood fire, and the sooner it is swept, the less there is to deal with.

Call us before you buy if you are still choosing between wood and pellet, or before you swap one stove for another. The office is at 717-601-2595.

"We even had them install our current free standing wood stove and it was the best price around and they did a great job." Jeremy Kelley, Google review.
